- META announces screen sharing feature to improve the video calling experience.
- The feature should competition with other video conferencing apps such as Microsoft Meet, Google Meet, Zoom, and Apple's FaceTime.
- Now, screen sharing during a video call is now easier on FaceTime and WhatsApp.
The feature was first tested by Android beta users in late May. It is unclear when it will be available for all WhatsApp users, but Zuckerberg's post suggests it could be soon.
"We're adding the ability to share your screen during a video call on WhatsApp," announced Meta founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

During a WhatsApp call, users can share their screen by tapping a button on the call control view. They will then be prompted to allow permission for WhatsApp to record, display, and share the contents of their screen with the recipient.
WhatsApp told TechCrunch that the screen-sharing feature has started rolling out on Android, iOS, and Windows Desktop in a phased manner. That means you may not see the feature immediately, but should soon.
In 2021, Apple improved its FaceTime service by allowing iOS users to natively share their screens. WhatsApp extended this feature to Android, iOS, and desktop users.
WhatsApp's screen-sharing feature could become essential for workplace communication in India, which has over 2.4 billion monthly users.
