Telegram announces new features for its users. In the latest update the company rolls out new features including a new group voice chat feature, SD Card storage and new UI animation for Android version of the app, new media editor capabilities along with fast loading & better looking animated stickers. Telegram says that this is the 12th update of the app in 2020.
According to the company, the new update will allow any Telegram group to create a voice chat room. Telegram states that although voice chat groups are not calls, “they can achieve similar goals”. Voice chats are now part of existing text chats, and serve as a continuous alternative to live speaking with friends or family. It also gives them the freedom to skip and leave a group voice chat, as they do in Discord.
Telegram will now let Android users move their app data from internal storage to an external SD card. This would help the users in freeing up the internal storage of their devices.
Apart from this, Telegram is also rolling out new animated stickers and animated emojis for Android users. These stickers are optimized to deliver smooth 180 frame animations and will have infinite resolution in less than 50KB.
Another feature that has been rolled out for Android users include a media editing tool that would allow users to edit a photo that they have already sent to add effects, drawings or stickers with the media editor. iOS users can tap the pen button to quickly edit and send back a photo they have received.
Along with that, Telegram also announces Push-to-Talks Shortcuts by which on Telegram Desktop and in the native mac OS app, you can choose a push-to-talk key for voice chats, to control your mic even when Telegram is not focused.
