- Parler- Unbiased Social media Platform
- Trending on iOS App Store
During the U.S. Presidential election 2020, many people took to Facebook and other social media platform to present their views and opinions. But Facebook and other social media platforms have been preventing many people from posting their personal views and opinions.
Many users have been looking for space where they can freely speak about whatever they feel. At that time, many people switch to other platforms, "Parler," to express their ideas. Parler becomes the most downloaded app for both Android and iPhone users during the U.S. presidential election.
What is Parler?
Parler is an American microblogging and social networking service launched in August 2018. The co-founders of Parler social platforms are John Matze and Jared Thomson.
This social media platform becomes popular among users because it is where users are free to express their views online. Parler is currently the number one application on the iOS App store and has 4.3 stars on the App store.
How Parler App Is Different From Facebook And Twitter
The platform allows people to say what they think and feel without the worry of moderation, like the recent "Fact Check" on Facebook. Free speech and freedom of expression have been very important not just this 2020 but also the whole year-round. With the difference in opinion and the strive for truth, this makes it harder for people to express what they truly feel about certain topics.
Parler explicitly describes itself as "a non-biased, free speech social media focused on protecting user's rights," a stance meant to fall in line with the oft-repeated claims of right-wing politicians and media personalities who believe that Twitter is unfairly censoring them.
The number one reason why Parler has been able to increase in users is that this big tech giant does not censor what is being posted on the platform. The lack of censorship has made it even more popular as other social media platforms like Facebook or Twitter are enforcing their content moderation.
But, without moderation, it is even harder to check now if a certain post is true or not as it is now up to the user's discernment to be able to determine the truth of the manner.
Another problem with this is that without moderation, searching for the factual results over the internet might be overlooked, and since double-checking or doing more research is not quite popular, the discernment process could be affected.
How to use Parler app ?
