The government of India banned 43 mobile apps today.
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology banned these mobile apps under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act.
Government said that these apps are involved in activities that threaten the unity, integrity, security of the country. Banned apps includes 14 dating apps and are mostly Chinese. The Center has taken this decision based on the report sent to the Indian Ministry of Home Affairs of the Indian Cybercrime Coordination Center.
Government took action against apps 4 times
- For the first time, the government had banned 59 Chinese apps on 29 June. The decision was taken after the Galvan clash on 15 June.
- After this, 47 apps were banned on 27 July . The government took this step when in Ladakh Chinese troops tried to infiltrate twice.
- On 2 September, the government banned 118 apps including PUBG. PUBG has been downloaded by over 17.5 crore people.
- Now again the government has banned 43 mobile apps. They have been described as a threat to the security and integrity of the country.

"Ministry of electronics and information technology has issued the order for blocking the access of these apps by users in India based on the comprehensive reports received form Indian Cyber Coordination Center, ministry of home affairs," said in an official statement.
