Google Meet Announces Time Limit For Free Video Calls

The App Will Let Users Host Meetings For Only 60 Minutes

Google Meet is an online conferencing offering free premium feature to all users. Earlier, Google had launched a new feature in its Meet app where users can see up to 49 people at once. The 49 people view can be enabled in Tiled and Auto layouts. This feature is, however, available on the web.

Now, video conferencing app Google Meet has announced that the free version of the app will let users host meetings for 60 minutes and not more than that after September 30.

With Google Meet users were able to create free meetings with up to 100 people without any time-limit. But after September 30, other advanced G Suite features like allowing meetings of up to 250 participants, live-streams of up to 1,00,000 people within a single domain, and the ability to save meeting recordings to Google Drive will also go away.

“We don’t have anything to communicate regarding changes to the promo and advanced features expiring. If this changes, we’ll be sure to let you know.” Google told The Verge.

Those features are normally only available to customers on the "enterprise" tier of G Suite, which costs $25 per user per month.

However, the users who do not want to upgrade to the paid version can continue to use free version with limited time of 60 minutes.
