The Feature 'Vacation Mode' Is In Beta Version Now
Facebook owned WhatsApp is working on new feature which is called 'Vacation Mode' for Android users which mutes archived chats, in the latest beta update. This feature allowed to keep your chats in the archive, when new message arrived.
Unfortunately, for unknown reasons, WhatsApp decided to stop the development of the feature. According to WABetaInfo, Now, WhatApp has started reworking on this feature after a brief gap. Presently, users can only archive chats, but can not mute them.
Currently, chats that are archived are directly saved in the section which can be found at the bottom of the chats. With the new feature called Vacation Mode users will have the ability to either keep the archived chats on top of the chats or keep them hidden when not in use.
WhatsApp has submitted a new update through the Google Play Beta Program, bringing the version up to 2.19.101 that bring back the vacation mode feature which was announced one year ago. "The Vacation Mode is back, but under development, so it is not available yet. WhatsApp is currently working to implement this feature, so it’s under development. It will be available in a future update". WABetaInfo wrote on its page.
WhatsApp has decided to implement the Vacation Mode again, under a new form. There will be a new dedicated section for the Vacation Mode, that allows to choose different parameters. When the new feature will be enabled, Archived chats will be moved to the top of your chats list.
You can choose the behaviour of Archived chats with Notification button, when new messages arrive. When you choose notify new messages, it is the current behaviour of archived chats and when you disable it, you will have the vacation mode, and archived chats continue to stay in the archive when new messages arrive.
Second option is Auto hide Inactive chats, if this option is enabled the chats which is 6 months older will automatically archived. It is possible that WhatApp will add more options to manage archived chats.
