iPhone 12 Will Be The Seventh Model To Be Made In India
American tech giant company Apple is planning to manufacture the iPhone 12 series in India locally. The new iPhone 12 models will be ready by the middle of the next year, according to a Report.
The company has locally produced the iPhone 6s, iPhone, and iPhone XR. Recently, Apple started assembling the iPhone 11 at the Foxconn plant in Chennai. Apple is also expecting to start assembling the iPhone SE 2020 by the end of this year. iPhone 12 will be the seventh model to be made in India.
Apple has been increasing its production in India as it seeks to bypass import duties and establish a larger retail presence.
A Report by Business Standard says that Wistron, Apple’s Taiwanese contract manufacturer, will start producing the new iPhones at the company’s Narasapura plant near Bengaluru.
It is the second facility by the contract manufacturer in Karnataka after the first facility at Peenya in Bengaluru, where it already manufactured the earlier iPhone models.
There’s a planned investment of over 2,900 crores INR, and Wistron has also planned to hire 10,000 employees for the new plant. The manufacturing plant is expecting to be fully functional by October this year. Around 1,000 workers have already started working.
However, the company already confirmed that the iPhone 12 launching this year would be available a few weeks later. The iPhone 12 launch event takes place on October 12, and the pro model will be available till November, as reported.
