Reliance Jio Launches Its First Smart Glass
Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), during its 43rd Annual General Meeting (AGM), has launched its first smart glasses called Jio Glass. Jio Glass is based on mixed reality and powered by cellular and wireless networks using the paired phone.
It is much like the recently launched Snap Spectacles 3. This new device aim is enhancing the virtual space by making it more interactive using 3D avatars, holographic content, and even regular video conferencing features.
The Jio Glass weighs just 75gms and comes with personalized audio. To access content on the device, the company will provide a simple cable that can be attached to the smartphone to access different use.
“Jio Glass is at the cutting edge of technology that provides best-in-class Mixed Reality services to give users a truly meaningful immersive experience,” said Kiran Thomas, President, Reliance Industries Limited during the keynote.
The company has said, Jio Glass will come with 25 inbuilt apps to allow augmented reality video meetings and more. The Glass can use for educational purposes using holographic content.
These high tech glasses will let people join a video conference in a more streamlined and advanced way by holographically appearing in them. People can also join video meetings via their regular video feed, a combination of Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality.
You can also use Jio Glass to share files and presentations with participants through mobile phones. And there will be support for demonstrating performances within Jio Glass.
However, the company provides no details about the price and availability of the product. They only show a demo on how the Jio Glass will work when it is available publicly. The company also mentions that the product will take advantage of 5G services, which Jio is currently working on.
