Twitter Rolls Out "Fleets" In India

Twitter is one of the most popular social network platform today, with 100 million daily active users and 500 million tweets sent daily.

Twitter is a platform where people go to see and talk about what'a happening. But some people are uncomfortable to tweet because tweets are public and have public count, retweet, and likes.

To make people comfortable and to have conversations in a new way, Twitter announces a new feature "Fleets" for users in India with no likes, no retweets, no public replies.

Fleets are similar to the "Stories " feature format, which is already used by platforms like Snapchat, Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. In March, twitter started experimenting with this feature in Brazil and last month in Italy.

How does "Fleets" work?

Fleets is a new way of conversation, similar to tweets, Fleets are text first, but you can also add videos or photos. Fleets disappear after 24 hours and don't get Retweets, Likes, or Public replies. If you want to reply to a Fleet, tap on it to send a Direct message or emoji, and continue the conversation in your DMs.

Fleets can be seen by your followers at the top of their home timeline. If you have open DMs, anyone can react to your Fleets. If you have protected Tweets, only people who follow you can see your Fleets at the top of their timeline or by clicking your profile photo. Fleets will be available for everyone in India.

Twitter’s product lead Kavyon Beykpour announced the feature on the micro-blogging site. He wrote, “Namaste! Starting today, Fleets are coming to India. If you’re in India, check it out and let us know what you think!”
