Google Thanks, Polite Grandmother Who Included 'please' and 'thank you' In Searches.
One 86-year-old woman’s good behaviors have won her fame on the internet after her grandson shared proof that she is polite even to Google. Ben John was left pleased when he chanced upon May Ashworth’s laptop and saw her politely worded search request to the internet giant.
Search giant Google has apparently thanked a grandmother for her 'polite search'. As per the report in BBC, Google UK tweeted a thanks message to 86-year-old May Ashworth saying, "In a world of billions of searches, yours made us smile."
Google's main Twitter account too replied with "Dear Grandma, no thanks necessary."
Questioning what the 'thanks' is all about? The British grandmother has enchanted the internet with her search reading: "Please translate these roman numerals mcm xcvii thank you."
The 25-year-old had gone to his grandma’s house to do his washing when he decided to use her computer to pass his time. He found that not only was the laptop switched on but it also displayed what his Nan had typed into Google: "Please translate these roman numerals mcm xcvii thank you."
Actually, Ben’s grandma likes to watch TV and was curious about when programmers were made. As television shows still use Roman numerals on their credits to show the year of the program, she decided to seek answers via Google search.
After Ben John tweeted the photo, Google replied.
Dearest Ben’s Nan, Hope you’re well. In a world of billions of searches, yours made us smile. Oh, and it’s 1998. Thank YOU.
Ben told BBC that she saw a TV show but couldn’t make out the from the credits, so she put the numerals into Google. “It made me chuckle so I thought I’d take a photo and put it on Twitter for my friends to see. I didn’t expect so many other people to see it,” says BBC report quoting Ben. So as they taught us in school, the words ‘Please’ and ‘Thank you’ are magical.
