Apple Unveils New 12" MacBooks With Intel Skylake, Longer Battery Life With 8GB Memory
On Tuesday Apple updated MacBook with the newest Intel processors, better graphics performance, faster flash storage and an additional hour of battery life, making the thinnest and lightest notebook Intel's latest-generation Skylake chips better than ever.
Introducing an all-metal unibody enclosure, MacBook is now available in four aluminum finishes —silver, gold, space gray, and for the first time on a Mac, a gorgeous rose gold. With a stunning 12-inch Retina display, highly responsive full-size keyboard, Force Touch trackpad, versatile USB-C port, and all-day battery life in a design that is just 2 pounds and 13.1 mm thin, MacBook are the future of the notebook. The MacBook uses new Core M CPUs based on Intel's sixth-generation Skylake architecture.
The updated graphics chip alone should increase performance by 25%, claims Apple. Apple also said that user will be able to extract 10 hours of web browsing and 11 hours of movie playback on iTunes on the MacBook.
The MacBook also gets somewhat faster RAM and PCIe-based flash storage, which should result in faster booting and load times. However, the most noticeable change to the lineup is a new colour option - predictably, the MacBook joins current-generation iPads and iPhones and is presently available in Rose Gold. With Intel HD Graphics 515, the MacBook has up to 25 percent faster graphics performance. Speed has also been enhanced with new, faster PCIe-based flash storage.
“MacBook is the thinnest and lightest Mac we have ever made and it’s our vision for the future of the notebook,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. “Customers are going to love this update to MacBook, with the latest processors, faster graphics, faster flash storage, longer battery life and a beautiful rose gold finish.”
The notebook weighs just 920g and 35mm thick at its thinnest point. Apple established a new kind of keyboard switch mechanism and a touch-sensitive trackpad to permit this thinness. It is also famously devoid of ports and impossible to upgrade.
Apple has also made 8GB of memory standard in all configurations of the 13-inch MacBook Air.
The MacBook accompanies a 1.1 GHz dual-core Intel Core m3 processor with Turbo Boost speeds up to 2.2 GHz, 256GB of flash storage for Rs 1,06,900, and 8GB of memory and with a 1.2 GHz dual-core Intel Core m5 processor with Turbo Boost speeds up to 2.7 GHz, 8GB of memory and 512GB of flash storage for Rs 1,29,900. Configure-to-order preferences include a 1.3 GHz dual-core Intel Core m7 processor with Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.1 GHz.
