Samsung Starts Shipping The World's Highest Capacity SSD With 15TB of Storage
New Delhi March 3rd 2016, The electronic company Samsung announced that it’s now shipping an SSD drive with 15TB storage, which is the largest capacity SSD drive in the market. Known as Samsung PM1633 SSD that has a capacity of 15.36 TB.
Samsung's portable SSD T3 is a palm-sized, external solid state drive (SSD). It is Equipped with Samsung’s proprietary Vertical NAND (V-NAND) and SSD TurboWrite technology. The T3 drive gives the advance performance, enabling consumers, content creators, business and IT experts, to quickly and easily store and transfer large multimedia content across a variety of devices.
The 15.36 TB drive, first introduced at the 2015 Flash Memory Summit in August, is based on a 12Gb/s Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) interface and designed for use in enterprise storage systems.
The SSD T3 device is covered with a dark silver metal body with black design and an anti-scratch urethane coating, intended to give it a premium look.

Samsung is already booming market by offering a new 2TB T3 SSD, along with a wide range of capacity options including 250GB, 500GB and 1TB.
One of the prominent security features of the drive is a metadata protection mechanism, in addition to the data protection and restoration software tool in case of a momentary blackout. With 256-bit hardware encryption, the T3 is safer than keeping your money in a bank.
Samsung combined 512 of its 256GB V-NAND memory chips, with 256GB stacked in 16 layers to form a single 512GB package, with a total of 32 NAND flash packages in the 15.36 TB drive. The drive also utilizes Samsung’s 3rd generation, 256-gigabit (Gb) V-NAND technology which stacks cell-arrays in 48 layers.
The benefit of the new Portable SSD T3 is read and write speed of up to 200,000 and 32,000 IOPS respectively, and offers sequential read and write speed of up to 1200 MB/s that facilitate quick transfer of data. It gives high flexibility to users due to its compatibility with laptops, desktops, TVs and android devices.
As per Samsung, the write speed is as fast as of an internal SSD and up to 240 times faster than external HDD. The Portable SSD T3 has a data transfer speed four times faster than external HDD.
Starting with the 15.36 TB capacity, Samsung will provide a wide range of capacity options in its SSD line-up – 7.68TB, 3.84TB, 1.92TB, 960-gigabyte (GB) and 480GB later this year.
The SSD T3 will go on sale on 21st March 2016 with a 3-year warranty and you can purchase a device from retail stores as well as leading online stores, including Snapdeal, Flipkart and Amazon.
The price for 250GB will be INR 10,999, for 500GB INR 18,999, for 1TB INR 37,999 and INR 74,999 for 2TB.
