Micromax Canvas Spark - 5 Things You Need To Know

Micromax has recently launched its brand new smartphone, named the Canvas Spark. The highlight of this handset is that it comes equipped with Android Lollipop 5.0 apart from the only other budget phones, the Intex Aqua L and the Moto E.

The Canvas Spark is one of the few budget smartphones to be introduced with the latest upgrade of Android, and when its pricing is considered then Micromax has clearly beaten its competitors.

Micromax Canvas Spark -best impressions:
Micromax has entered the trend of making budget smart phones with the release of the Canvas series, resembling that of Motorola and Xiaomi that brought the budget phones to the next level. After a long gap, Micromax is back with the cost effective Android smartphone that is powered by a quad core processor. The Canvas Spark’s first impression is that it is a good looking phone, which is mainly due to its sleek and slim form factor, a full matt black back panel and a lightweight structure.

It also features rounded corners with a metallic strip, which gives the phone a premium appearance. The frame of the phone does not feature a shiny chrome finish; rather it is equipped with a smooth matte finish that does not appear cheap. Among the silver and black variants of the Canvas Spark, the black color sports a soft matte finish, which makes it look great and good to hold.

Placement of keys:
The front part of the phone is covered by a 4.7 inch IPS qHD screen. Below the phone’s display, there are three capacitive navigation keys, and above the display are an earpiece and a 2 MP front camera.  For the first time Micromax has featured Android lollipop with physical navigation keys. There is also a change being notified in the placement of application switcher and back keys, and to use the application switcher the users need to press and hold the key.

The back side of the phone presents a removable plastic panel. There is a LED flash and the rear camera along with the Micromax logo. The black back panel appears durable unlike other detachable plastic covers which do not exude a feel of durability. The non-removable battery, a micro SD card slot and 2 micro sim card slots are concealed by the black cover.

Display features:
The power keys and volume rocker are placed at the right edge of the phone for providing a decent tactile feedback. The micro USB port is present at the bottom edge, whereas the headset port has been placed at the top edge of the handset. The overall feel and look of the phone has made it to be rated amongst the best looking budget smartphones in the market.

The Canvas Spark features a 4.7 inch qHD screen with corning gorilla glass three panels to protect it against minor scratches and abrasions. The display provides excellent viewing angles, exact color reproduction and brightness levels, however it was expected that it must have packed a 720p display. The touch response provided by the panel is also good which comes preloaded with the Google’s latest mobile operating system version, android 5.0 Lollipop.

Micromax has however skinned few elements of the user interface. The phone comes fortified with pre-loaded applications like reverie phonebook, quikr, snapdeal, payTM, Chaatz, Hotter and clean master. Fortunately, it also allows the user to uninstall many of the third party applications.

Hardware specifications:
Speaking of the hardware specifications of the handset, it is powered by a 1.3 GHz quad core processor with 1GB RAM. It also offers 8GB of internal storage that is expandable up to 32GB via microSD card. The phone offers a 2MP front facing and 8MP rear camera. The 8MP camera is highly favored for budget range, though it does not work so well at night.

The off-screen notification and android L’s floating are its best features. Users can swipe any notification easily to the left if they don’t want to check them. Users can use the notification settings to block out the notifications from any specific application and choose the one that appears in the priority mode.
