Facebook has Launched Verified Pages And Profile badges for celebrities and business pages on Wednesday 29th May. Verified badge is little identical with Twitter verified badge. Twitter already had launched this service as four year ago.
Facebook said at their newsroom page, "Today we're launching verified Pages to help people find the authentic accounts of celebrities and other high-profile people and businesses on Facebook. Verified Pages have a small, blue check mark beside their name on timelines, in search results, and elsewhere on Facebook.
Verified Pages belong to a small group of prominent public figures (celebrities, journalists,
government officials, popular brands and businesses) with large audiences. This update is rolling out to profiles as well."
As we can see on McDonald's page has authentic verified by blue check mark which shown original Facebook page of McDonald's. Verified pages display as blue check mark. This service is useful to prevent from fake accounts.
