Today, 1st Oct Iran Unblock Gmail But Still Banned YouTube. Whereas On 23 Sep Gmail was blocked throughout Iran "until further notice". Iranian news agencies said the ban was connected to an anti-islam film posted on YouTube. Iran telecommunications minister Rezi Miri conceded that the internet filter used couldn't distinguish between email service and YouTube, which has still banned.
He said, "Unfortunately we do not yet have enough technical know that how to differentiate between these two services, we wanted to block Youtube and Gmail was also blocked, which was involuntary".
We absolutely do not want YouTube to be accessible, that is why the telecommunications ministry is seeking a solution to fix the problem to block YouTube under HTTPS protocol while leaving Gmail accessible. That will soon happen".
This action was against Google where its services was to boycott the US company over an anti-Islam movie available on YouTube. Now Iran is developing own closed version of the internet.
